The PS/IS 209 SOAR Program is funded by the
NYC DOE Office of Community Schools
and is operated by
The Leadership Program


The SOAR after-school program is FREE of charge for selected 1st - 5th graders
Funding is available for 80 students / Students are selected by lottery 
Operating hours are Monday to Friday from 2:20pm to 4:55pm

 The SOAR after school lottery results will be announced on 09/17/26

The SOAR after-school program includes

 30-45 minutes of homework time every day
FREE hot meals Mon-Fri for each student

Outdoor fitness & recreation

Fun, educational classes and projects, such as

Music
Games
Arts & crafts
Mindfulness
Stage Shows
3D printing
Gardening
Social-emotional learning

The SOAR Program also provides these services to all students K-8

through the Office of Community Schools​​​

VISION SCREENINGS
 

Through our partnership with the Department of Health & Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) and Optical Academy,

all PS/IS 209 students receive FREE vision screening and those in need of vision correction will receive glasses at no cost.

Vision screenings and optometry are combined in the same visit.
This effort is a collaboration between the DOH Vision Screening Teams and NYC Community Schools.

DENTAL CARE

Through our partnership with the Department of Health & Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), Office of Community Schools provides specific supports for PS/IS 209 to build our own FREE oral health program to serve every student in our school.
